CRTLE Faculty Helping Faculty Diversifying our Curriculum: Recent Projects to Enhance Inclusion in Art and Art History Courses

April 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

We are seeing important changes in diversity, equity, and inclusion across the university, including the addition of courses focused on such topics for freshman students. It is also crucial that we address inclusivity in courses already established in the curriculum and at all levels of instruction. Many art and art history faculty have addressed these needs in recent course offerings. In this panel, discussants will briefly describe a recent project to diversify a course or related set of courses including their motivation to do so, what they implemented, and reflections on the value of the project for the arts and beyond. These projects can serve as models for others to work towards more inclusivity and engagement with DEI concerns in their courses, no matter the discipline or content.

Panelists: Dr. Lucy Bartholomee, Dr. Fletcher Coleman, Dr. August Davis, Professor Patty Newton,
Professor Marcela Reyes, Dr. Mary Vaccaro, Dr. Beth Wright
